Fiona is a regular artist with State Opera South Australia, where her recent roles include Third Lady in Die Zauberflöte, Cousin Hebe in H.M.S. Pinafore, Counsel in Trial by Jury and Miss Jessel in Britten’s The Turn of the Screw. Earlier appearances with the company include Magdalena in Wagner’s Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, La Ciesca in Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi and Second Saleswoman in de Falla’s La vida breve. She also covered the Cook in Stravinsky’s The Nightingale and Other Fables for the Adelaide Festival.

Fiona has performed widely with other companies, including Co-Opera, with whom she toured throughout regional Australia as Dorabella in Così fan tutte, Suzuki in Madama Butterfly and La Zia Principessa in Suor Angelica. She later performed the title role in Suor Angelica for Mopoke Theatre Productions.

After graduating from the Elder Conservatorium of Music, Fiona completed a Master of Music in Voice and Opera at the New England Conservatory in Boston, studying with Jane Eaglen. During her time in the United States, she appeared with Pittsburgh Festival Opera as Mistress Zimmerlein in Strauss’s The Silent Woman, performed Flosshilde and First Norn in The Essential Ring with Symphony New Hampshire and Lexington Symphony, and created the role of Xiao Qing in workshop performances of Paola Prestini’s Gilgamesh with Beth Morrison Projects. She later made her London debut as Mimì in La Bohème with Hampstead Garden Opera.

Alongside her operatic work, Fiona is an active concert and recital artist. Recent concert highlights include alto soloist with Adelaide Baroque in Bach and Handel by the Waters of Babylon, appearances with Chamber Music Adelaide, MAGPIE Artsong, Adelaide Hills Chamber Players and Adelaide Hills Winter Music Festival, and soloist in Handel’s Messiah, Mozart’s Requiem, Vivaldi’s Gloria and Jenkins’ The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace.

Her recital repertoire has included songs by Mahler, Schumann, Rachmaninoff, Dvořák, Liszt, Strauss and contemporary Australian composers. She has appeared in State Opera South Australia’s Songs for a Muse, Adelaide Hills Chamber Players’ Accent on the 20th Century, Chamber Music Adelaide and MAGPIE Artsong’s On the Terrace, and Adelaide Hills Winter Music Festival performances at UKARIA.

With a performing career that moves between opera, oratorio and art song, Fiona continues to build a profile as an artist deeply engaged with text, character and musical storytelling.
